With such a team, coordination frequently becomes an issue, but this team managed to excel all the way to the end. There are so many aspects for which this work deserves to be commended: as a demonstration of imaginative recycling of old material and keeping the cost under $200; as a successful application of computer driven fabrication methods; as a visually pleasing end result, and many more. Not to be neglected is the enthusiasm with which the students must have approached the project and is clearly reflected in the final result. Obviously that enthusiasm must have transcended beyond the team and appears to have triggered a ‘festival’ for all the students.”

Students in the studio were Chad Harris, Christopher Price, Neil Werbelow, Matthew Archuleta, Luis Marquez, Ben Ortega, Jeremy Jerge, Mara Schweikert, Travis Bunch, Owen Kramme, Nick Byers, Hooman Keyhan Haghighi, Kobi Bauer and Elizabeth Suina.

http://www.formz.com/jointstudy/JS2008_09/awards20082009.html

http://www.formz.com/images/jointstudy/pdf/JS2008_2009/em2Team.pdf

Final Studio Submission DVD

Please turn digital files on DVD:

a. A vast array of parametric systems and digital computation fabrication technologies has redefined the way we practice and develop our built environment.

The challenge of this studio is to embrace innovation and redefine spatial inhabitation as expressed through material research. Utilizing dynamic software, a series of investigations will challenge traditional architectural processes and search for more fluid interactive spatial systems.

The framework for the studio will be a multi-disciplinary approach that challenges traditional cannons of design. A new studio environment will be established to enable designers to investigate these new processes.

| Process |

A series of mini-seminars will be initiated at the beginning of the semester that will focus on utilizing the computer as a means of exploring new spatial and digital fabrication processes. Through digital technology we will employ a methodology that utilizes performative analysis as a means of production. We will create a process of design that is a seamless integration of digital evolution to full-scale fabrication.
